The Red Brick Common is excited to present Held in Balance by renowned visual artist Steve R. Mitts. Steve’s work unfolds as a quiet conversation between past and present. Rooted in the visual language and philosophy of the Italian Renaissance, his practice reflects on how the essential conditions of human life, uncertainty, resilience, longing, devotion, and vulnerability, remain unchanged across centuries.
His current Woodblock series reflects a deep engagement with structure, material, and enduring themes, that combines his love of woodworking and acrylic painting. By bringing these disciplines together he creates works in which material and image are inseparable, where structure, surface, and story merge into a unified visual language.
